OUR ADOPTED ‘LEGAL’ FAMILY
Bradshaw, FARRELL, Kim, Kinchella, Lewis, Murray
If you have read through other pages, you will know that my mother Peggy was adopted (click here for her adoption story)
The basics:
- Virginia O’BRIEN (AKA LEWIS) nee FARRELL was an aboriginal and a war widow with no children, she was also a family friend of Cecilia when she adopted Peg. Yes it was a legal adoption through the proper authorities and no we have not been able to obtain any answers as to how the adoption was approved. It is in complete reverse to the stolen generation. *shrug* answers we will never have.
- Virginia (Jean) then married a Canadian man Gerald Patrick GOODE in 1946 and had 1 son Gerald, apparently he went back to Canada and was never heard from again. Jean then lived with John David KINCHELA and had 4 more children. John David is the man Peg new as her father growing up.
I always thought that Gran’s family were Biripi but a few years ago whilst passing through Kempsey we were chatting with cousins and they informed me that they were Daingatti. Maybe some cousins will come across this site and remember Peg and will help me out here

My grandmother was Jean Mary Farrell from Texas Qld. Her grandfather, Frank Farrell was aboriginal. We have
drawn a blank in researching his family and maybe we are related in some way. Please email me if you have any
info. Thanks
