Life in Australia’s Convict Female Factories

Gallery exhibitions – National Archives of Australia.

An estimated one in five Australians has an ancestor who spent time in a convict female factory, but very little material survives from these women. Their contribution has been largely ignored, yet they are the ‘mothers of the nation’ – women with grit who survived the dire conditions of late 18th and early 19th century colonial Australia.

Our Mary Ann Jones nee Sullivan c.1806-?, spent time here and it would be absolutely fascinating to visit this exhibition.  Oh at times like this wish I was still living in NSW!  Maybe I need to go home…

If you’re in Sydney this is a must see exhibition!

MVHR – Mary Valley Heritage Railway presents The Valley Rattler.

MVHR – Mary Valley Heritage Railway presents The Valley Rattler..

What an awesome Mother’s Day :)   The ‘Girls’ (3 generations) spending a weekend in Gympie!  Went on the Rattler for a day trip to Imbil, had an awesome lunch at the Rattler Cafe as well.

A fantastic day was had, and I would recommend the journey.  The staff on the steam train, especially our host David were absolutely fantastic.  Jorjeena was invited to join the drivers Neville and John on the engine during the return journey.  She had a fantastic time and wanted me to add her thanks and appreciation here.

I might try one of the theme journeys, maybe the Wild, Wild West :)

The George Robert Miller Debate

Is there 1, 2 or 3 of them?

I have created this page in the hope that fellow Miller researcher’s will have a read and forward any opinion’s or clues they may have on the subject of “George Robert Miller”, or better yet add your comments below for other’s to see them as well.

Laid out below are tables, the first being the children of what appears to be 1 family of George &/or George Robert Miller & Mary Ann??? The second is of my ancestor’s George Robert Miller & Mary Ann Brown formerly Jones. Below these I have laid out ideas and notes, please browse through them. Anything you may wish to add to the argument please forward to me via email.

aussierhonda goes wordpress

Well, here we are finally back online.  Whilst I loved Drupal for presenting a genealogy website, I found the constant security updates tiresome and annoying.  I could have taken the time to move it to Drupal 6, however the update problem would still have been there.  With Wordpress, there are automatic updates.  This is a dream to me and a life saviour!
